A motorcyclist died in a road accident on Brabourne Road in central Kolkata early Monday morning. According to police, the accident occurred near the Tea Board crossing when a bike coming from Howrah was hit from behind by a speeding app-based cab. The cab reportedly lost control and collided with the two-wheeler, causing the biker to be thrown off the vehicle. The cab, carrying two passengers, then hit the central divider with force.
Traffic personnel present at the location rushed the injured biker to SSKM Hospital. Hospital authorities later confirmed that the individual was declared dead on arrival. The identity of the deceased had not been officially released at the time of reporting. No injuries to the passengers in the cab were reported, though the vehicle suffered major frontal damage due to the collision.
Police have arrested the cab driver and initiated an investigation into the incident. The vehicle has been seized for forensic examination. CCTV footage from the area is being collected and reviewed to verify the sequence of events and determine the exact cause of the accident.
